In the past twelve years, twenty nine lives have been lost on a ten mile stretch of the A1307.
Access 1307 is the action group that is campaigning for improvements on the A1307 between the A11 and Haverhill. The A1307 runs through a large rural community in
The road is one of the busiest in Cambridgeshire and at one end of the road is Haverhill which has seen substantial growth over recent years, however this growth has not been followed by any major junction improvements on the A1307 and therefore as the traffic flow has increased, the road has become a barrier to residents wanting to access the road or the services in villages the other side.
We believe that the current high accident rate must dramatically be reduced. It is totally unacceptable for pedestrians to have to cross a road with vehicle flows in excess of 18000 a day without the help of refuges or crossing. There is no safe access point for residents of any villages to join the road and residents have to risk their lives to join traffic flows without the help of lights or roundabouts.
